My Gold Award’s Mission

My Gold Award project is a dedicated effort to tackle the problem of elderly citizens falling victim to scams designed to deceive and exploit them. This issue has become increasingly prevalent as scammers constantly adapt their methods to exploit vulnerabilities in the older population. Unfortunately, a substantial portion of elderly individuals remain unaware of these malicious schemes or lack the knowledge to identify the techniques which scammers use to target them. This knowledge gap makes them particularly susceptible to financial, emotional, and even physical harm.

My Gold Award addressed the root cause of this issue by involving a comprehensive curriculum that covered various types of scams, from fraudulent phone calls to deceptive online schemes. I collaborated with local senior centers and community organizations to host workshops and information sessions, fostering an environment where elderly citizens could engage in open discussions, share personal experiences, and learn valuable strategies for safeguarding themselves against scams. Additionally, I designed user-friendly pamphlets and digital resources that summarized key points and provided quick references for recognizing potential scams. By dedicating my time and effort to this project, I aimed to bridge the knowledge gap and ensure that our elderly citizens could enjoy their golden years with confidence and security, free from the fear of falling prey to scams that target their vulnerabilities.

This website is designed to accompany my presentations in order to ensure the longevity and broad range of my Gold Award.
